The L-1A non-immigrant classification allows a U.S. employer to transfer a qualifying executive or manager from an affiliated foreign organization to an office in the United States. The classification may also be used by a foreign organization seeking to send an executive or manager to the United States to establish a new affiliated office. A central issue in an L-1A petition is whether the beneficiary has been employed abroad, and will be employed in the United States, in a primarily managerial or executive capacity.
